Aaaaaand we're back with another JFD! The cycle has brought us back to Breakthrough Drills. For the uninitiated:
You kill 3 sets of mobs in each stage. These mobs have 90% Damage Reduction
To counter this, you need to heal the Scarecrow. This gives Damage Taken debuffs to enemies, up to 500%
At its core, Breakthrough Drills are so simple. This month's gimmicks are:
(Stages 3 and 4) When Scarecrow gets healed, deals amount of HP healed as damage to enemies
(Stage 4) Enemies gain a HP shield. Applying a debuff onto an enemy removes the HP shield
Note a few things before we start:
The HP shield removal is buggy. Sometimes, it just fails. Restart the fight if that happens
CC aren't debuffs. CC have purple symbols, debuffs have blue symbols
Debuff damage (poison, shock, freeze, burn) counts as debuffs
So, as per usual, the main thing required in all Breakthrough Drills: healers. You need to be able to heal the Scarecrow or you'll go nowhere. Strong ST burst healers like Kokona, Mari Idol, Serina, Atsuko Swimsuit and Chinatsu are excellent for this drill. If you have to, you can use Heal Over Time healers like Hanae, or even AoE healers like Hanako or Koharu. Whatever that gets you through the stage
Then, for this month's gimmick, you will want AoE debuffers. Now, this requirement might look confusing, because you aren't even sure who are AoE debuffers to begin with. No worries, here's a list: Kikyou, Marina, Nagisa, Serika New Year, Renge, Kasumi, Moe, Momoi + Midori, Shigure, Niya, Reisa, Shiroko Cycling, Asuna Bunny, Mine, Kirino, Hibiki Cheer, Airi, Tomoe Qipao, Juri. Note that not all of these are viable and/or easy to work with, it is up to you to figure out who are the easiest ones to use
Then, the rest of the team is simple:
an AoE damage dealer, ideally Mystic attack type (because, you know, Special armor)
(highly recommended) Cost Recovery subs for faster rotations
cost down utilities if needed
whatever else that ties the team together
If you find yourself struggling to clear Stage 4, remember: you can always step down to Stage 3. There are no HP shields on Stage 3, and the healing requirements on the Scarecrow are much lower
With that being said, I did manage to put together a 444 clear. Somehow. This set of teams barely works, but it still gets me 125 coins, and that's good enough considering the sad state of my healer roster
Team 1 is by far the best team, consisting of:
my trusty Kokona as healer
Niya for AoE debuffs + Cost Recovery
the ever balanced Hanako Swimsuit as DPS
Yuuka as tank
Shun for early cost charge
Ichika Swimsuit for some neat tech
What tech, you ask? Well, Ichika Swimsuit applies Focused Assault to an enemy of choice. What I can do is:
Apply Focused Assault to a backline enemy
Force Hanako Swimsuit to move forward
This allows 1 splash to hit all backline enemies
Does this save me time? I dunno, maybe. But it definitely looks cool and feels satisfying, so good enough for me~
Hanako (Swimsuit) MMMM 888 UE40 Lv89 (18)
Shun 1711 451 3* Lv65 (10)
Yuuka 2775 6852 UE40 Lv82 (28)
Kokona M7M7 998 UE30 Lv89 (19)
Niya MM1M 231 4* Lv89 (19)
Ichika (Swimsuit) 1100 000 1* Lv1 (6)
Team 2 relies on good ol' Nonomi to clear the mobs. Yep, who needs Mystic AoE when Nonomi gets the job done, lol lmao. Hasumi Track helps clear the big shield mobs quickly. Asuna Bunny is used for AoE debuffing, I borrowed a friend's Mari Idol for healer, and Serina is mostly just chosen for quick cycling since she's 2 cost (my Serina's healing is weak). Rio is a whatever pick, I don't have good Specials for this JFD
Asuna (Bunny) 1111 0000 3* Lv1 (1)
Hasumi (Track) 4675 545 UE50 Lv78 (28)
Nonomi M775 9482 UE40 Lv86 (30)
Mari (Pop Idol) MMMM ??? UE40 Lv90 (A)
Rio MM1M 467 3* Lv89 (20)
Serina 1111 223 3* Lv70 (15)
Team 3 is the most balding team, and took me a while to figure out how to make that team work. Kasumi is the AoE debuffer here, with Hanae as my last resort for healing. On the DPS side of things, I am bringing classic AoE DPS Shiroko Terror (lol lmao) alongside my Chise, with Tsubaki as tank and Tomoe Qipao for strong Atk sub. Because of Hanae's heal over time, this team is much slower, and I have to roll for Chise positioning RNG on the 3rd set of mobs to get her to hit all 6 backline mobs with her EX
Tsubaki 3474 888 UE30 Lv89 (16)
Kasumi 1111 411 3* Lv52 (19)
Chise 3453 4241 3* Lv72 (17)
Shiroko*Terror 3744 433 3* Lv73 (20)
Hanae 3111 224 UE30 Lv70 (15)
Tomoe (Qipao) 1437 222 3* Lv67 (17)
