Description:
Our appreciation of music is based in the ability to process sound that is both acoustically diverse and cognitively challenging. Research related to music in people
with hearing loss and people with normal hearing has led to a growing body of knowledge describing the nature of the obstacles that limit music perception in individuals with cochlear implants. This presentation will discuss the broad range of research studies that have been performed to address music perception, addressing the fundamental mechanisms that give rise to music appreciation.
