Dr. Jayne Standley spoke at The University of Texas at Austin on April 6, 2015, about “The Music Path: Wiring Neural Circuits in the Infant and Fetal Brain” as part of the College of Fine Arts' "Discoveries in Arts and Health" lecture series.

Jayne Standley ,is the foremost authority on medical music therapy and use of music for infant neurodevelopment. Standley's research on the effect of music on premature babies, or "preemies," led to the establishment of most of the musical protocols used in hospital neonatal units throughout the world today. Her lecture will discuss the neurological impact of early music exposure and therapeutic uses to benefit infants and toddlers, particularly those in healthcare and at risk for neurodevelopmental disabilities.

The "Discoveries in Arts and Health" lecture series features noted speakers on issues illuminating connections among the arts, innovative thinking and healthcare.
