This is moronic. New Yorkers buy online and go to NJ not because of sales tax but because of lower prices, in general. Commercial rent, utilities, food, decorating, and all costs of living is simply much more expensive in New York so businesses have to charge more. That's simply not the case for a warehouse on the outskirts of Seattle. Furthermore, who wants to drive through the LA traffic or ride the NYC subways ($4.50 roundtrip).. Fact is, I shop online for the prices and convenience, and it has nothing to do with sales tax. Simply put, the "unfair price advantage" politicians talk about has littel to do with sales tax.
