HOW-TO KW H.A.S. KIT | E9X M3

Tools: 00:10
gloves
Jack & jack stands/lift
Impact gun (recommended)
Breaker bar
Ratchet(s)
Torque wrench
10mm socket
16mm socket
17mm socket
18mm socket
19mm socket
21mm socket
18mm wrench (preferably skinny)
21mm offset wrench
Good sized metal hammer

Step 1: Lift/jack & remove wheels
Break lug nuts/bolts loose by hand
Pop hood & Lift/jack vehicle
Remove wheels

Step 2: Remove front springs 01:10
Remove headlight level sensor arm from the control arm (10mm) (driver side only)
Remove endlink nut on strut (16mm impact or 16mm +18mm wrench)
Jack up suspension
Open hood
Remove strut top covers
Unplug EDC connectors (if applicable)
Remove strut top nut (21mm)(offset wrench + 10mm)
Lower jack slowly, keep 1 hand on strut, fully decompress
With two hands carefully pull down and lower shock with spring from shock tower and lower behind fenders (place tape on fenders to avoid scratches)
Remove springs and spring pads

Step 3: Install KW collar 03:45
Mark original colar position
Measure 76mm or 2.99 inches from old collar location
Grab a good sized hammer
Hammer original spring shock colar upwards until completely free and remove
Set desired front ride height on kw collars and lock down with small allen
Install KW H.A.S. Collars and match position of original
Flip original collar upside down and slide over shock and on KW collar
Hammer the original collar down evenly until KW collar reaches marked location
Remove original collar

Step 4: install front kw springs 05:45
Place flat side of kw spring on kw collar
Replace or modify stock bump stop
Re-install upper spring pads only
Re-install dust boots
Reverse step 2
Strut tower nut will stop once fully tighten, do not tighten after fully seated, spindle can bend (torque spec = 64nm)
Impact endlink nut back on or tighten with 18mm wrench on back (torque spec = 58nm)
Snug level sensor nut

Step 5: remove rear springs 07:00
Loosen and remove headlight level sensor arm from control arm (10mm)
Loosen and remove lower shock bolt
Loosen and remove lower control arm to wheel carrier nut and bolt
Lower lower control arm and remove original springs
Remove spring pads from spring and body

Step 6: install kw rear springs 08:20
Set desired rear ride height on kw collars
Install rear kw spring collars in body
Re-install lower spring pad only
Install rear kw springs
Jack lower control up and slide rear shock bolts in
Use a big flat head and place between shock and wheel carrier and pry back and forth in order to easily install 21mm wheel carrier bolt and nut
Torque large 21 bolt to 165nm
Torque 18mm shock bolt to 100nm
Tighten level sensor nut by hand

Step 7: re-install wheels
Install wheels and snug
Lower vehicle to the floor/remove jacks/jackstands
Torque wheels (120nm oem spec)

Step 8: test drive

Adjust if needed after install
Allow 2 weeks for new springs to fully settle
Wait for springs to completely settle before final adjustments
After final adjustments are made perform an alignment
Check adjustments after alignment
