Pop, pop, popcorn, bouncing so high,
Flying and tumbling up to the sky!
One little kernel went pop! on the floor,
Another went bouncing right out the door!
The pot went BOOM! and the lid went CLANG!
Popcorn flew out with a BANG-BANG-BANG!
It bounced on the table, it bounced on the chair,
It bounced in my sister’s bright purple hair!
It bounced in my shoes, it bounced in my socks,
It bounced in the fish tank, surprising the rocks.
It bounced on the dog who rolled on the floor,
It bounced on the ceiling, then bounced some more!
Grandpa was snoring in his big comfy chair,
Popcorn bounced gently and stuck in his hair!
He woke with a chuckle, “Now what’s all this?”
Then laughed till his belly went wiggle-wiggle-swish!
Grandma was knitting with yarn in her lap,
Popcorn bounced in and went “snap-snap-snap!”
She giggled so loudly, “This popcorn’s insane!”
The cat chased it wildly around like a train.
At the playground, it bounced on the swings,
It bounced on the slide, it bounced on the rings!
The children all shouted, “We’re bouncing too!”
And jumped like popcorn—BOING-BOING—woo-hoo!
At soccer, the coach kicked a ball with his shoe,
But a popcorn popped in and bounced there too!
“Goal!” yelled the popcorn, bounce, bounce, bounce!
The kids laughed so hard they all did a pounce.
At the circus, the clown slipped SPLAT! on the ground,
The popcorn went rolling all around.
The elephant trumpeted, “Toot-toot-toot!”
Popcorn bounced right in his trunk—hoot-hooot-hooot!
The monkey swung high, the seal clapped loud,
The popcorn bounced into the juggling crowd.
The ringmaster laughed till his hat flew away,
“This popcorn has stolen my whole show today!”
In the classroom, the teacher said, “QUIET!”
But popcorn began a popping riot!
It bounced on the blackboard, it bounced on the chalk,
It bounced on the teacher’s nose—oh what a shock!
The kids all giggled, they rolled on the floor,
Popcorn kept bouncing right out the door.
It popped in the hallway, it popped in the gym,
It popped in the lunchroom, what chaos within!
At the movies, we wanted a snack to share,
But popcorn was bouncing everywhere!
It bounced in the aisles, it bounced in the rows,
It bounced in the popcorn machine—who knows?!
The people all shouted, “Duck! Duck! Duck!”
The popcorn was bouncing—what crazy luck!
The hero on screen said, “Stop right there!”
But popcorn bounced past him without a care.
It bounced in the garden, it bounced in the rain,
It bounced on the school bus, it bounced on the train.
It bounced in the market, it bounced in the shop,
The shopkeeper yelled, “It just won’t stop!”
It bounced in the bakery—SPLAT in the bread!
It bounced in the hats on people’s heads.
It bounced in a milk jug, it bounced in the jam,
It bounced in the blender—BAM-BAM-BAM!
One piece bounced onto a marching band’s drum,
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM! went the big bass bum!
The trumpets tooted, the trombones roared,
The popcorn bounced higher than ever before!
The crowd all laughed till their bellies shook,
They clapped their hands—oh, what a look!
Popcorn was dancing, tap-tap on the floor,
“Encore! Encore!” they shouted for more.
At bedtime, I yawned, “Oh please settle down,”
But popcorn was bouncing all over town!
It bounced in the bathtub, it bounced on the bed,
It bounced on my pillow, it bounced on my head!
I whispered, “Stop! I must go to sleep!”
But the popcorn just bounced with a boingy-beep!
I laughed so hard, I rolled on the floor,
That silly popcorn just bounced some more!
So if you hear a POP! and a BOING! at night,
Or popcorn bouncing in bright moonlight…
Don’t chase it, don’t catch it—just laugh and clap,
For popcorn is silly and loves a nap!
And when it is quiet, when all pops are done,
We’ll dream of more bouncing, more laughter, more fun.
For popcorn, my friends, is not just a snack,
It’s a bouncing parade—and it’s never coming back!
