The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) held the first high-level Ministerial Dialogue on Scaling Renewable Energy in Agrifood Systems on 12 January 2026. The dialogue marked a decisive step toward more integrated action on food security, climate resilience, and the global energy transition.

The dialogue highlighted key priority directions, including putting clean energy in the hands of farmers, strengthening partnerships for climate action and food security, and closing the financing gap for climate and agrifood systems solutions, while underscoring the importance of closer alignment between energy planning and agricultural policy to unlock scalable, inclusive, and cost-effective solutions on the ground.
