One, two, one, two, three, boom - tut…C…/A#/A#/F…

“Can’t Get Enough” is the first track off of Bad Company’s self-titled debut album and came out on this date in 1974.

A true classic rock song with an iconic bass line wonderfully played by Raymond "Boz" Burrell. A very tasteful fretless player who, unlike a lot fretless guys, didn’t draw any unnecessary attention to the fact that he was playing a fretless bass.

I remember learning this song for the first band I ever played in and being totally dumbfounded by what he was playing during the long ride out of the song. When I was starting out, I found it very unnerving to stray more than a whole step in either direction of the note I was presently on and remember thinking, “He’s just being cruel now” as I tried to figure those parts out. I think the only one I ever really managed to get was the big one at the end - the descending line at 3:22, as that was the one that signaled to everyone that the song was, mercifully, ending. It took a while, but I finally got around to learning all those bits.

I'm playing the formerly fretless, presently fretted Guild B-302.
