When it comes to determining what is the best Dragon Ball Z game, Sparking! Neo often comes up in the discussion. Coming out a year after the first entry, Sparking! Neo took advantage of the strong foundation laid out for it. This sequel offers a more comprehensive roster of characters, refined combat mechanics, and an expansive story mode that delves deeper into the Dragon Ball Z universe.

When asked in an interview about the game's title, series producer Ryō Mito explained that some people at the company worried adding a "2" to the sequel might deter those who hadn't played the first game. So, they chose "NEO" instead. Which pretty much just translates to Sparking!NEW. But most of us have come to know it as Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2.

Released in late 2006, Sparking! NEO arrived just as the gaming world was shifting from the 6th to the 7th generation of consoles. As a result, it wasn't just a PS2 exclusive but also made its way to the Nintendo Wii.
