Unboxing Applewood Road vinyl LP

Have you ever known a sound, and I'm not talking music here, just an everyday sound, like pouring coffee beans into a grinder, or whispering, or scissors cutting hair, to send a tingling sensation through your head or scalp or back of neck? If you google 'ASMR' you'll see that it is actually a 'thing'! Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response is something I learnt about from an 18-year old friend of mine who posts videos of herself whispering into the camera about random topics such as brushing her teeth or hedgehogs. It's not the subject that's important, it's the fact that she's whispering and the effect it creates for the listener.
"Unboxing" is also a 'thing'. People posts videos online of themselves receiving a parcel and opening it. Again, it could be anything in the parcel. It's not so much about the contents but the process of taking something out of it's box and packaging.
What a strange world we live in!, was my initial reaction to both these internet phenomenons.
But in actual fact, I totally get the allure of both.
I love the anticipation of receiving a parcel, one you've been waiting for for a while. Placing it on a table, getting scissors or a knife and carefully opening it up, removing plastic sleeves or bubble wrap or polystyrene bits. There's a whole world of strange and wonderful sounds and sensations to be had!
I think for me, opening a box of vinyl records is pretty much the ultimate combination of 'unboxing' and 'ASMR'.

In September 2014, three songwriters met for the first time in a cafe in East Nashville. By the next morning they had put the finishing touches to their first song, 'Applewood Road', which they recorded live to tape at Nashville's all analogue studio, Welcome to 1979.
The song's nostalgic air, along with the clear, sparse arrangement of three vocals accompanied by double bass, drew immediate positive response, and they decided to expand the idea into a full album.
Six months later, they reconvened to write, rehearse and record songs for the self-titled album Applewood Road. The songs were again performed live around a single microphone at Welcome to 1979 and recorded to two-track tape with minimal accompaniment from some of Nashville’s finest session players, including Aaron Lee Tasjan, Josh Day, Fats Kaplin, Jabe Beyer, and Telisha Williams.
