Описание к видео Ruby Mountains, NV Unit 10 Deer hunt 2017

This area is extremely difficult if you are not in excellent shape. If you draw this tag plan to hunt the east side of the Rubies. If you can hike with decent elevation gain find Overland Lake Trail. My AWD Honda Pilot made it up the steep road to the trailhead just fine. We found a little herd tucked in there about the first mile in. The only buck present was a little spike.

We then drove down the east side of the Rubies along Franklin Lake until Ruby Lake to NF 113. There are other short NF roads along that way that a fit person could drive in a short distance and hike up.

For the less fit hunter NF 113 has a spider web system of dirt roads that my Pilot drove just fine. These roads provide good views of many draws. Just like everything with easy access it gets plenty of traffic.

Time constraints wouldn't allow us the opportunity to check out Spruce Mountain. I could see the tower at the top which would indicate to me a person could drive a good amount if not all the way up. No information about hunting Spruce Mountain was easily available but my suspicion is there are deer over there as well. Plus the benefit of much less hunting pressure, I suspect.

I would not put in for this tag again as a working stiff that can't afford time off for 7 hour drive to do multiple scouting trips. I also don't have $100,000 worth of hunting toys to make getting away from the crowd easier. If I had $100,000 laying around like that I'd probably just go buy a cow and pig each year, with the stipulation that I get to shoot them.

I do not write this as an expert or even an avid deer hunter. I prefer pheasant and coyote. Deer hunting in Nevada is a rich man's trophy game. It's set up that way on purpose by the Head of the NDOW whose son, at the prime of his life, "randomly" drew the most coveted tag in Nevada 2 years in a row. A tag that hunters wait 10 years to get.

I hope this helps you average working stiffs with the Unit 10 tag. Happy hunting.
