The active part of the international naval exercise “Maritime Security Belt - 2024” is taking place in the Gulf of Oman.

More than 20 ships, support vessels and combat boats of the Russian Navy, the Iranian and Chinese Navy are involved in the exercise. The main purpose of the maneuvers is to practice ensuring the safety of maritime economic activity.

▫️ As part of the exercise, the crews of the guards missile cruiser “Varyag” and the frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” practiced joint tactical maneuvering and conducted communications training with their colleagues from the naval forces of Iran and China.

▫️ In addition to maneuvering, warships of the three countries fired large-caliber machine guns and small-caliber naval artillery at surface and air targets simulating unmanned sea and aircraft.

▫️ Today, the participants of the exercise will have to work out an episode to free a ship seized by pirates with the involvement of helicopters and the landing of inspection teams.

▫️ The final stage of the exercise will take place on March 14 on the shores of the Iranian city of Chekhbehar. There will also be a debriefing.

The international naval exercise “Maritime Security Belt 2024” is being held for the sixth time. For the first time, representatives of the navies of Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Oman, India and South Africa are taking part in the exercise as observers.
