Turkey is making groundbreaking advancements in military technology by integrating air-to-air missiles into its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platform, known as Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (SIHA). These cutting-edge missiles, GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN, developed by TÜBİTAK-SAGE, are not your ordinary missiles. They are being designed for use beyond the F-16 platform and are set to be integrated into Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAV).

The GÖKDOĞAN missile is a Beyond-Visual Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) equivalent to the US-produced AIM-120 AMRAAM. It boasts advanced features like a Head Seeker Active Radar, enabling it to engage targets from various angles and lock onto multiple targets simultaneously.

On the other hand, the BOZDOĞAN Missile, comparable to the AIM-9X, is an In-Sight Air-to-Air Missile equipped with a high-resolution Imaging Infrared (IIR) Seeker Head, offering exceptional visibility and resistance to electronic warfare.

What's even more intriguing is Turkey's efforts to integrate these missiles into UAVs, a significant leap in military technology. Currently, no other UAV platform worldwide can employ air-to-air missiles. To add to the excitement, the MURAD National AESA Radar, developed by ASELSAN, has recently been integrated into the AKINCI TİHA for testing. This development will enable UAVs to target air threats detected by the MURAD AESA Radar using the GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN Missiles.

All of these groundbreaking projects are being overseen by the Turkish Presidency of Defense Industries and involve the collaboration of top companies and research institutions, including ASELSAN, BAYKAR, and Roketsan, which is also working on an intriguing air-to-air missile.
