Today was my last day to get to the WSR in 2024 and for some time in the future. There are no plans to visit this part of the world in 2025 but I hope that may change.

As always they have been fantastic. The 1940s weekend and the steam gala were brilliant, the staff are always friendly and helpful and the stations are beautiful as is the scenery.

I’ve been lucky to travel on the trains behind several locomotives this year and even stand on the footplate of Odney manor; as well as watch from the stations, beaches or countryside as the trains pass through. It really is a stunning heritage railway.

The WSR in particular is longest standard gauge independent heritage railway in the United Kingdom and is well worth the visit.
