The piezotome tool is used in Rhinoplasty surgery to precisely sculpt the nasal bones without creating any trauma to the surrounding tissues. Bones are not broken in the traditional methods of using osteotomes/chisels with hammers. The piezotome allows the Rhinoplasty surgeon to have the best possible accuracy when needed in rhinoplasty surgery. It can also result in less bruising and swelling since the piezo specifically targets bones. The soft tissues of the nose are not traumatized. There are different tools that can be used with the piezotome, this includes saws and rasps. In this video a piezo rasp is being used to shave down and remove/sculpt a nasal hump.
