It has been one month since Peru's new president, Ollanta Humala was voted into office on a platform to lift Peruvians out of poverty.

Although he has appointed a pro-market economic team and increased taxation on mining some remain fearful that his social programs will affect economic stability -- not least because of the suspension of a US-financed program to eradicate coca, the base ingredient of cocaine.
