Because cocktails are great with McMann and Tate!

In today's episode of Mike's Hard Reviews, the first ever sponsored video produced for the channel, we're examining the bitters varietals crafted by McMann and Tate cocktail company, who provided a sampling of their lineup to me for review.

McMann and Tate Cocktail Company is a new-to-market startup that manufactures cocktail accoutrements for the home mixologist. While their largest offering is a wide range of cocktail bitters with rotating seasonal offerings, McMann and Tate also produces garnishes like salt rims and dried citrus in a catalogue that is growing every day.

These carefully crafted cocktail counterparts are designed to be applicable with all your favorite spirits and are perfect for amateurs and experts alike, so check them out today!

Thank you to McMann and Tate for sponsoring this video!

TL;DR for the entire review:
In general, I am surprised and intrigued by McMann and Tate's bitters. The bottles themselves are well-made and the branding attached to them is distinct from other big players in the spirits market, even if I'm not a particularly huge fan of dropper vials and think the graphic design on the labels could use a face lift. All of the bitters varietals I was provided (Cocoa Mole, Morning Coffee, Moroccan Orange, Wildly Aromatic, and Bing Cherry) were thoughtfully crafted and nuanced in ways that I wasn't expecting. While all of the bitters did maintain their function in both a standalone tasting test and in various cocktail tests, I find that not all of them fall squarely into what the market expects of the styles of bitters that these flavors fall into. They work, but expect the growing pains associated with a product that hasn't been a part of the market for a while.

I tested three of the five bitters varieties I was provided in this video and the other two in personal applications; I'd like to comment on the flavors that do not appear in cocktails in the video (Cocoa Mole and Morning Coffee). The morning coffee is like the pure distillation of a cup of dark roast coffee with extra botanical complexity roaming about in the background and it works phenomenally in cocktails. I made a rum old fashioned using just the coffee bitters as a substitute for aromatic and it was excellent. The cocoa mole bitters, as I discuss briefly in the video during the tasting process, is the most unbalanced of the varieties. Far too much oregano compared to other flavors to maintain subtlety when necessary.

All that said, I wholly endorse McMann and Tate Cocktail Company and their bitters! These are excellent products, if a little unrefined in their current state, that have amazing potential for upward growth as products and will certainly find a welcome home in your liquor cabinets and kitchens. To put a number to it: 4/5!
