Top 20 US States by GDP (1963-2018)

Описание к видео Top 20 US States by GDP (1963-2018)

A 'bar chart race' comparison for GSP (Gross State Product) of the top 20 U.S. States from 1963 to 2018 (Q4). All data was sourced from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), a U.S. government agency that provides official macroeconomic and industry statistics. The data is presented in current (Q4 2018) dollars. The total U.S. GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is also displayed for context.

*Note: The data comes from two separate BEA data sets. The SIC data set covers the period from 1963 to 1996 while the NAISC data set covers the period from 1997 to 2018. The SIC data may be less reliable as it was based on different standards but still provides data that allows us to contextualize the size of each state economy.

Additional Info: GDP is a measure of the total value of goods produced and services provided in a country during one year. It is Essentially the size of a countries economy. GSP is essentially just GDP but on a state level. It measures how big the economy of each state is.
