I spent 17 years in active addiction, and so I'm able to get down on their level and identify with them. Certain conversations that we're able to have, they can instantly know, I have been in their shoes.

Based on my own personal experience, when I used to wake up in emergency rooms, and they would give me a white sheet of paper with a long list of numbers to call, most of which had weeks-long waiting lists, it made me very disinterested, and when that would happen on a regular occurrence, I would usually throw the paper away because I would know there would be no chance that I could get into treatment.

Being able to be on the upside of that curve and actually able to offer those services to people in an expedited timeframe, when they're the most vulnerable, has been very interesting, and it's been very rewarding.
