-La Batalla de BELCHITE pasó a la historia como uno de los enfrentamientos más cruentos de la Guerra Civil. Las tropas franquistas y las republicanas se la disputaron encarnizadamente. Tras la sublevación de 1936, Belchite quedó en manos del bando nacional, pero entre agosto y septiembre de 1937 las tropas republicanas desplegaron una ofensiva que les permitió controlar la localidad. Fueron semanas de sangrientos combates, casa por casa. Al año siguiente, en 1938, el avance de las tropas franquistas arrebató definitivamente Belchite al bando republicano.
