Preview by AkshayaKrishna Polya The caravan moves to the famous Adelaide Oval on Friday (November 8) for the second ODI of the three-match series between Australia and Pakistan. It was a nail-biting start for the Men's International Summer in Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The visitors showed their fight with the ball and kept the hosts in check, giving them a run for the money. Ultimately, the captain cool of the modern era, Pat Cummins, showed grit and helped his side go over the line in a tense low-scoring run-chase. The Aussies have been bolstered by the arrival of Josh Hazlewood, who will complete the fiery pace-bowling trio that also includes Cummins and Mitchell Starc. Hazlewood missed the first ODI as the pacer was getting some red-ball game time ahead of a massive series against India, playing for New South Wales (NSW) in the coveted Sheffield Shield competition. He went wicketless from 24 overs in Queensland's only innings of the drawn match at Cricket Central. It was a return to professional cricket for the right-arm pacer after he took a break in the recently concluded United Kingdom tour. Other than Hoff, it is also a return to the squad for young Cooper Connolly, who also missed the series opener as he was busy playing for Australia A against India A in a Four-Day game in Mackay. It will be one last hit in International cricket for Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne before the long Test Summer against the Rohit Sharma-led unit. These five key Australians will miss the third and final ODI of the series as they head to do their final round of preparation ahead of the five-match Test assignment. In the absence of Cummins, Cricket Australia has announced that wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis will lead the World Champions in Perth. Josh Philippe, Lance Morris (who has already joined), Spencer Johnson, and Xavier Bartlett will join the camp ahead of the third ODI. On the other hand, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side will aim to bounce back after giving the home team a neck-to-neck fight. Their biggest concern was adapting to Australia's pace and bounce, which they couldn't do at the MCG. Speedster Naseem Shah, who also was the pick of the batters, walked off the field due to cramps in the first ODI, but he is expected to be fit and keep his place in the XI. The Men in Green could be tempted to field a frontline spinner given how the Adelaide surface has played recently, but at the same time, short square boundaries would insist they keep going with the same XI. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins breathed fire with the new ball after the latter won the toss and decided to bowl first on a spicy MCG track.
