Increasing Black Homeownership in Tacoma, WA with Anzhane Slaughter | Move to Tacoma Podcast

For our first VIDEO episode of the Move to Tacoma Podcast MovetoTacoma.com creator Marguerite interviews ‪@SoldbyAnzhane‬ with Young Black Homeowners! With the help of podcasting network Channel 253 and episode sponsor ‪@tapcocu1934‬ we were able to shoot a video version of the podcast and interview Anzhane Slaughter from Young Black Homeowners.

Anzhane will be providing a series of workshops along with the City of Tacoma to help more Black Tacomans become homeowners through some local downpayment assistance programs.

This was a great conversation that covered things like Tacoma’s history of racism, redlining, and steering. Anzhane shared about the Black Home Initiative being put forth by an alliance of organizations across Washington including Civic Commons.

After 9 years of doing the podcast in studio it was super fun to get out into the community and have a conversation. Very grateful to Yu Nana and the whole team at Indo Asian Street Eatery in the Stadium District Neighborhood for loaning us their beautiful dining room!
