Now that fall is in full swing and winter is around the corner, the animals at Hallam Lake are preparing for the cold months.

Beavers prepare for winter by solidifying their dams (in order to create more swimmable water near their lodges after the ice freezes over), by fattening up, and by storing food in a cache that will be accessible throughout the winter months. This beaver can be seen clipping some willows, a preferred food source for the species.
