Improving Content Quality for Online Professional Activities using Domain Specific Learning

Abstract of the Thesis: Online professional platforms like Indeed, LinkedIn, Naukri, StackOverflow, and Blind serve as digital ecosystems to connect professionals, employers, and job seekers. However, the voluminous amount of User Generated Content (UGC) on these platforms ranges from job postings to candidate posts varies from meaningful information to misleading content, depending on the expertise, reliability, and intention of the users. The unmonitored nature of the content (including ambiguous, redundant, missing, off-topic, scams, misleading, or irrelevant information) makes it difficult to assess the content quality, thereby affecting the platform's trustworthiness, reducing the value to its customers, and hampering the user experience. To combat this, the thesis adopts a four-fold approach to address these content quality issues, by normalizing content, predicting missing skills, detecting misleading information, and identifying low-quality content. In conclusion, we contribute by building automated solutions to improve content quality for online professional activities using domain-specific learning and knowledge.
