How to import PowerPoint presentations into Camtasia | Tutorial for Beginners

Описание к видео How to import PowerPoint presentations into Camtasia | Tutorial for Beginners

How to import a PowerPoint presentation to Camtasia so that you can edit and make a video from it, add narration, and so on. I have this very short PowerPoint presentation as an example with four slides, this should work in Camtasia 2021 as well as previous versions.

Techsmith Camtasia can import PowerPoint slides directly. The selected PowerPoint file is exported, and it is imported in Camtasia as individual slides. No need for any plugins. They're not necessarily in order, and if you can see behind the scenes, actually Camtasia extracted those from the PowerPoint presentation and exported them as individual PNG files. And then you can just drag them onto your timeline.

By default, each slide is going to have the default time length that you have in your Preferences. So if you want them to be longer by default, maybe you have a PowerPoint presentation with more slides and you want to drag all of them at once, the default time can be changed in the Settings in Camtasia - Edit menu in Camtasia, go to Preferences, you can go to the Timing section and you see that images have their own default timing value. So that means that any image you bring into Camtasia is going to last for however many seconds you have there by default. That doesn't mean you can't change their duration after the import, even individually.

In this video I also show you how to change the duration of a single slide, how to shift them on the timeline with the Ripple shift so that the subsequent slides move also. And finally, I show you how you can add narration to the slides directly on the Camtasia timeline. Recording starts at the play head. Go to Voice Narration, select the correct microphone, place the play head where you want to start narrating and press Start Voice Recording.

When you're done, you click Stop and then Camtasia wants to save that narration somewhere. Click Save and then the narration is also going to be inserted where your play head was.

If any of your slides is then too long for your narration, click on the slide, hold down the Shift key and pull the end of the slide and make it shorter.

This is how you import a PowerPoint directly into Camtasia, as individual slides, and then add narration to them, change the length, change the duration of each slide and create a presentation, export a video from it and you're done.
