The famous Ford Mondeo has been on sale in China since 2002, thats is almost a decade after its Europe launch. The head designer at Ford, Maurizio Tocco said, reinventing the Ford model was "a privilege and a challenge for our team." The new Ford Mondeo is the very first model to be designed according to the all-new 'Progressive Energy in Strength' philosophy, which is said to be a blend of elements of Ford company's 'iconic designs' as well as their 'rich heritage' with the preferences of its Chinese market as well as buyers. The three defining characteristics of the new Ford will be based on "commanding, agile and responsiveness." The all-new Mondeo was officially revealed at Ford's China Design Center in Shanghai. As initially announced almost more than a year ago, the 2022 Ford Mondeo with Euro-specification in all three body editions like the liftback, sedan. The Mondeo name will be abolished in Europe after 30 years since Ford replaced the Sierra three decades ago. The all-new 2022 Ford Mondeo is set to begin deliveries in China during the second quarter of 2022. For design inspiration, the new Mondeo draws heavily on its recently launched Chinese-market sibling model, the Evos crossover.

The key design elements include an octagonal-shaped grille, the slim LED headlights connected by a light band within the bonnet's leading edge, separate daytime running lights, and also an A-shaped graphic for the air duct within the lower part of the front bumper on the 2022 Ford Mondeo. While Ford has retired the famous nameplate from Europe after 30 long years, the Mondeo got a long-rumored new generation. The new Mondeo incorporates the Blue Oval's latest design language for China called "Progressive Energy in Strength." Ford did not go into specifics, but we assume that the Mondeo will be sharing the architecture with the China-only Ford Evos and Lincoln Zephyr. The coupe-style silhouette makes the new Mondeo look sportier while retaining the three-box proportions. The front end features split headlights and a large grille similar to the Evos, although the bumper has a slightly more conservative look. Although we're yet to look at the new Mondeo's interior, Chinese sources confirm that it will receive the same basic cabin architecture as the Evos.

The new 2022 Ford Mondeo is based on Ford's C2 platform, underpins from the existing Mk4 Focus. Also planned is a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, which is yet to be made official by Ford. There are no official pictures of the new Ford Mondeo replacement's interior. Multimedia uses Chinese software SYNC 2.0 developed by Baidu. Ford has also published a selection of renderings as well as sketches, giving us a better design idea. Unfortunately, the press release does not include information about the new Ford's specifications. However, Ford did not show the interior of the new Mondeo, but it is expected to get the same dashboard as the Evos. The new 2022 Ford Mondeo is also expected to get Level 2+ autonomous driving capabilities like the Zephyr.

The new Ford Mondeo will be produced in China by Changan Ford. The 2022 Ford Mondeo price ranges from $27,000 for the basic trim level Hatchback Mondeo Ambiente TDCi to $38,000 for the top of the range Wagon Mondeo Ambiente TDCi. However, the release date is not officially set yet but Ford fans and interested buyers, don't fret, Ford will unveil more important details on the 2022 Mondeo soon.
