Great for my back
I purchased this for personal use while I am away from home on a work assignment on the northeast coast. I have a queen sized one at home as well. I love having this on the bed under me as opposed to sleeping under an electric blanket, as it seems that I am better able to control my body temp while sleeping. If I get too warm and kick off the covers, I don't wake up freezing (just chilly!). I usually keep it set on about 5/6 and that is plenty warm. I've not tried it on any higher than 7 (which is really hot and I'm a very cold-natured person), so I would imagine 9 would be a slow roast. When I remember, I turn it on 20 min or so before I go to bed so that it's nice & toasty when I hit the covers, but when I forget, it only takes a couple of minutes for cold sheets to become comfortable. Since I've started sleeping on the heated mattress pad, I've noticed that I don't toss & turn nearly as much - it seems that I sleep primarily on my back & my back aches much less than it used to... it's like sleeping on a heating pad. The ribs in the pad are noticeable, but not so uncomfortable to deduct a star - a necessary evil in my opinion. the cord is long enough for the pad plug to come off the bed, split off to one side to plug into the wall and the control on the floor on the other side of the bed.
