This Mai Tai is as close as you can get to the original

Thank you to ‪@ultimatemaitai‬ for graciously sharing the Appleton Estate 17 Year Old Legend.

Out of all the Mai Tais I've ever had, I've never been as sad as I was when I finished this one. At first, it came through as a traditional Mai Tai. Balanced with the flavors of Jamaican rum, lime, orange curacao, and a hint of orgeat. But as the video continued and the drink diluted more, it got better. By the time it was at its best, it was all gone.

This is one of those moments you want to try to create a core memory around so you can use it in the future when tasting other Mai Tais and rums. A truly legendary Mai Tai.
