HOW TO MAKE THE BEST EASIEST PAKISTANI ONE POT CHICKEN YAKHNI PULAO RECIPE 🇵🇰😍!!
Chicken Pulao is one of the most commonly eaten rice dishes in Pakistan, it is absolutely delicious. I love it! It is basically a meal in and of its self and the best part is my recipe is soooo easy to make.
My recipe is a simplified version of the original, traditionally the chicken broth is this is made separately but I make it all in one, don’t worry though, you still get the exact same taste 👅!
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups basmati rice (imperial cups)
4 ½ cups water
⅓ oil
1 kg chicken (bone in)
1 onion (thinly sliced)
2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp whole garam masala (or 1 tsp garam masala powder)
1 tsp cumin seeds
3 tsp salt (or 4 tsp chicken stock powder)
1 green chilli (sliced)
STEPS:
1. Wash the basmati rice 5 times, then soak.
2. In a large pot, fry your sliced onions till brown.
3. Add 1 cup water to the onions, boil for 10 mins till the colour changes.
4. Add the chicken, ginger garlic paste, whole garam masala, cumin seeds, salt & green chillies, cook on medium for 5 mins.
5. Add the remaining water (and garam masala powder if you didn’t use whole garam masala), boil till the meat is cooked.
6. Bring to a rolling boil, add soaked washed rice and gently stir.
7. Cover the pot and let it cook on high till al dente, or holes appear, approx 15 mins.
8. Cover with foil and lid, put on the lowest heat and steam (dumm) for 15 mins.
9. Do not mix too much, just serve.
