Speakers

Thomas Crowther: Prof. Dr. Thomas Crowther is an ecologist at ETH Zurich, where he founded Crowther Lab, an interdisciplinary team studying global ecosystems and biodiversity conservation. He chairs the advisory board of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and is chief scientific advisor to the UN’s Trillion Trees Campaign.

Tim Christoffersen: Tim Christoffersen is the Vice President, Climate Action for Salesforce. Previously, he was head of Nature for Climate at the UN Environment Program and led a global movement backed by all U.N. member states and over 120 partner organizations to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of ecosystems worldwide.

Lucy Mulenkei: Lucy Mulenkei is an activist on indigenous and women’s rights, championing the interests of marginalized communities in Kenya and globally. Lucy is also co-founder and co-chair of the Indigenous Women Biodiversity Network and an active member of the International Forum on Biodiversity and International Forum of Indigenous Women.

John Liu: John Liu is an American ecologist and filmmaker. John has worked with Commonland Foundation on catalyzing privately-invested large-scale restoration worldwide since 2009, and is currently its Ecosystem Ambassador. John also founded the Ecosystem Restoration Camps movement in 2016, which currently supports 37 camps in 6 continents and continues to grow.

Lu Zhi: Professor Lu Zhi is a Chinese conservation biologist, whose research covers multiple-disciplinary fields and the complex sustainability issues for Chinese society, as well as promoting China’s positive influence toward the world. Her recent work focuses on the mechanism of coexistence between human and nature in both rural and urban areas.

Ana María Hernandez: Ana María Hernández is Chair of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and has 25 years of expertise in international environmental law, international negotiation on biodiversity, and science-policy interface. Among other roles, she has served as the Director of the Fundación NaturaCert.
