Strategic Metals (TSX-V: SMD) is a project generator currently with 96 active projects and a number of royalty interests.

In mid-July correspondent Paul Harris sat down with CEO Doug Eaton at Invest Yukon’s Mining Property Tours & Investment Conference 2023.

Paul Harris: “With the success that Yukon Territory has achieved in recent years in mining and exploration, bringing mines onstream, discoveries, does that make it a bit harder for you to get ground and get that competitive advantage?

Doug Eaton: “It’s tough to acquire new ground in many cases, because obviously people are out there looking. But Yukon was explored fairly well starting in the 1970s and right up into the 2000s. We acquired most of our ground during the downturn in the early 2000s and then again in 2008, 2009. So, we’re already well positioned. We don’t need to go out and acquire new ground.”

Strategic Metals is a 30% shareholder in Rockhaven Resources’ Klaza property, which is moving toward prefeasibility. In the Tombstone gold belt, the company owns 12 projects including Mount Hinton and Lance.
