Another week, another famous face has come walked the halls of Jackson State University. Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan was at JSU on Monday and Tuesday to check out the Tigers' program. JSU defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman and defensive line coach Jeff Weeks have both been on Ryan's staffs on the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders played for Ryan when he was with the Baltimore Ravens in 2004-05. "It's just a friend visiting a friend that's all," Sanders said. "He coached me when I was in Baltimore, and I loved him. He was so candid, honest and straightforward. What do you think you're going to get from Rex?" The Pro Football Hall of Famer later said Ryan brought his fiery spirit to morning meetings on Tuesday and watched the Tigers' practice. Some players took a moment to speak to him, including Sanders' sons Shedeur and Shilo. "I saw my sons go over there and speak to him and get some of that knowledge and that wisdom and that understanding from him," Sanders said. "Just to have that word from Rex Ryan, who's also an ESPN analyst, former head coach, unbelievable, man. Ryan is the latest famous football face to be around Jackson State since Sanders took over. In pregame warmups of the first game this spring against Edward Waters, Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman surprised Sanders on the field. Former Ole Miss coach and CBS college football analyst Houston Nutt also visited campus in January. JSU offensive line coach Mike Markuson coached on Nutt's staff for 20 years.
