Pursuing a career in space research can seem like a daunting, confusing, and often nonlinear process. We are honored to hear from someone who has not only navigated this path but forged her own: Elizabeth Delgadillo Talburt, project engineer for NASA Johnson Space Center’s Human Health and Performance Contract. Beginning her work for NASA directly from her bachelor's degree, she will be discussing her experience in the space industry and what alternative paths might look like. Additionally, she will discuss her work with Johnson as an engineer on microbial sampling devices and eye examination instrumentation.

Elizabeth Delgadillo Talburt is a project engineer for NASA Johnson Space Center’s Human Health and Performance Contract. She works on the Crew Health Care System for the International Space Station. Her areas of interest are the intersection between biology and engineering, and how these two fields can be used to further our understanding of the mechanisms of life and create technology to improve the quality of life on Earth. Elizabeth graduated Cum Laude from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as an Engineering major with a Mathematics minor. She builds flight hardware for microbial surface sampling and air sampling devices as well as maintains the functionality of eye examination instruments to monitor Spaceflight Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome in crew members.
