Obviously, 90% Of the fleets on these routes are not supposed to use these buses at all. However, during the winter when there is heavy snow, Articulated Buses are banned from service due to them having issues operating through the snow, and 40 foot buses were given chains in the rear wheels to make accelerating easier. If an articulated bus route can't run artics, they would usually be given a standard 40 foot bus from their depot, or if there's not enough left, any other depot that can spare a bus. These buses that are placed on those routes are often called "Snow Loans". That's how crazy equipment appear on routes, like Orion VII 3G Diesels on the M60, (I Have a video of it on my file clearing channel, consider subscribing to see some archived videos), Orion VIIs on the Bx6, etc.

Just note, if West Farms continues to have it's shortage until the first snow storm of the year, that will mean some good news for the bus fanners, as GREAT equipment will most likely appear on these routes. Oh, remember the Queens Village LFSs on the Bx19?

Enjoy! Taken sometime in February 2021.
