An inflatable penile implant is a medical device used to treat erectile dysfunction. It consists of three main components: cylinders, a pump, and a reservoir. The cylinders are implanted within the penis, while the pump is typically placed within the scrotum.

The reservoir is usually implanted in the abdomen. When the user wants to achieve an erection, they simply squeeze the pump, which transfers fluid from the reservoir to the cylinders, causing them to inflate and create rigidity in the penis.

This allows for successful sexual intercourse. After intercourse, the user can deflate the implant by pressing a release valve on the pump, returning the penis to a flaccid state.
