Joshua Rubin, a software developer from Brooklyn, New York, is the founder of Witness at the Border. In 2018, feeling morally compelled to witness the horrors of family separation and child detention on the southern border, Josh began a lonely vigil outside a detention facility for migrant children in Tornillo, Texas. His witnessing succeeded in shutting down this American internment camp and freeing 2,800 migrant teenagers kept against their will. His continued protests at a similar youth detention facility in Homestead, Florida resulted in its closing. Rubin led the Witness project on the ground in Brownsville, Texas/Matamoros, Mexico in early 2020, and leads the Biden-era child detention Witness project.

Victoria Bruce is a documentary filmmaker and author with a passion for human rights and a long history of working on dramatic and sometimes dangerous non-fiction stories in Latin America. She has had her films in over 50 film festivals including IDFA and Sundance, and has had films acquired by HBO, CBS, History Channel, Netflix, Hulu and PBS. She is the recipient of many film festival awards as well as a duPont-Columbia University Award. Bruce is the director of "Las Abogadas: Women Attorneys on the Front Lines of the Migrant Crisis," a documentary film currently in production.
