A huge fire has broken at a car wash next to a busy Manchester road where a vehicle appears to have been engulfed in flames.

Dramatic video show the silver Mercedes Benz ablaze at MC Hand Car Wash on Oldham Road this afternoon (November 4).

Video footage shows huge black plumes of smoke billowing from the vehicle, which is parked in the forecourt of the car wash.

The road was closed in both directions around Mill Street and Albert Street West, near Failsworth, as fire crews tackled the blaze.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At shortly after 12.20pm on Tuesday (November 4) three fire engines from Phillips Park, Gorton and Hollins fire stations were called to a fire involving a car on a car wash forecourt on Oldham Road, Failsworth.

“Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and make the area safe. Crews were in attendance for around 45 minutes.”
