What is Fault in Software Testing?

In software testing, a fault (also known as a defect or bug) is a flaw in the software code that causes it to behave in an unintended manner. A fault is usually introduced by a mistake made during the development process, such as a coding error, a design flaw, or a requirement that was not implemented correctly.
