Comparison of real Egnater amp and Neural Amp Modeler version of it

I will do a pinned comment soon to show the answer to which is which.
MIM Strat on various pickup selection going back and forth between either model or real amp through same IR. This is my amp and the model I made of it – side by side. Clean, then with a plugin overdrive pedal through both. I think we all have to agree they sound a whole lot alike!

This is weird. I keep finding myself doing techie stuff while saying I am not a techie dude. I did this on a whim. In the past few weeks I have been wanting to use my Egnater Tweaker and do not have room in my office/studio for another whole cabinet setup (in addition to my main rig).

I learned a tone about Resistive and Reactive loads so I could run my amp straight into my interface (DON’T TOY WITH THAT... LEARN ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU DO IT – YOU CAN DESTROY YOUR GEAR).

Now I am digging the amp with Celestion IR’s of speakers I actually have. On a whim, I decided to try and model my amp. I knew nothing about how this worked... I watched a couple of Youtube videos, read a little, tried and boom... you can hear the result. Now I have a VST plugin of my own amp.
Neural Amp Modeler is making waves. It is open source and free and does what the fancy units (Kemper, Quad Cortex, Tonex, etc.) do. I can’t lie and say there were not hiccups, but once I dialed it in, it was pretty seamless. I will link to the video that helped most (It is outdated, but its principles with the instructions on the actual open source page got me there). Total time from learning to succeeding was about 45 minutes.

One technical thing that can really hang you up... if there is any latency in your system (when you send the training audio through your amp) it will NOT work. I had to really get in and tweak that. He says this in the video, and boy did he mean it!

Long story long – it worked. It was free (my IR is paid for, but you can find free ones everywhere). I do not use hardware pedals or modelers, so this (on the computer) is perfect for me.

~REMEMBER~ When you profile/model like this, it is a snapshot of a single setting, not a real model of the amp that works like the amp. It is like super gluing your knobs in place... see, I told you I was not techie.

You can ask questions, but not sure I will be able to answer them.
