The Twitter accounts of major companies and individuals were compromised in one of the most widespread hacks the platform has ever seen.

The hack promoted a bitcoin scam that appears to be earning its creators large sums of money.

The accounts affected include President Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Kanye West, Michael Bloomberg, and Apple.

But the hack is more insidious than just being a bitcoin scam. Shireen Mitchell a Social Media Analyst and Diversity Strategist spoke with Roland Martin about why this intrusion may be the beginning of something even larger.
