Hobbit Hole Interior Hinge

In this video, I forge and fabricate the inner hinge for my hobbit door. This is actually a faux hinge or dummy hinge...It does not actually attach to the functioning hinge which is on the outside of the door. This faux hinge is decorative but also provides a stiffener to the wood so does serve a structural purpose. I decided to outsource the design for this piece as I wanted an Art nouveau design, and had recently stumbled upon the work of Victoria from Forged Francova. This Ukrainian woman makes wonderful pencil sketches of wrought ironwork. When I saw her work, I knew instantly I wanted her to design the hinge. I was not disappointed. The process of forging the pieces then assembling them (fabrication) was straightforward, but very time-consuming.
