I meant while playing the soundtrack to this, and versions since, to make a video with images of the powerproject construction but had started a video made up of all the images of Seton Lake from the '50s up to about 1960 of my Dad's, with a few of Bill Roozeboom's professional landscapes and one or two of my own.. and needed a few more shots to fill out the soundtrack without re-repeating photos, so included some of my own shots from the Bridge River Canyon.

This piece was first played on August 8 and is a take on chords I use for a song called Powerhouse. It's nothing like that song, though. Just came out of me once I started playing the same chord pattern (Dm-F-Am-C) and built from there, and in the process of playing dubbed Canyonlands. I'll make a further video using images of all the canyons in the region from Big Bar to Cayoosh and the mountains also at some point... it all takes time and I've got lots of writing and other projects on the boil. And a a very slow, beaten-up old computer to do it on.

Upon listening to it I know it's the best of the half dozen or so takes on it I've done - because it's the freshest and most clearly thought out.

There's some nice bits in later versions where I explore the theme in various ways; one version of this I even called Seton Valley.

But this one suits more the original title of the song, which was Powerhouse... but on piano the name Canyonlands suits it far more.

Plan is, as with other things I've been playing which are orchestral in concept as I play, the thing I have to learn how to do is to score this up for orchestra... and shop it around.

Thing is when you come from a place like Seton it leaves its mark on you... a lot of my music is flavoured by it and influenced by memories of it, and the overall grandeur of the Bridge River-Lillooet Country it's at the heart of.
