Good: The mic is relatively small and lightweight so you can get improved audio out of your cameras and smartphones without having to add substantial bulk or weight to your overall rig.
Good: The microphone has a hinge on it that allows you to angle the mic capsule in the direction of the audio source you are trying to record. So if you want to point the mic towards the front of the camera or the rear of the camera you can do so by simply angling the mic.
Good: The CVM-VS07 works with cameras and mobile phones without the need for an adaptor. The only issue is if you have a phone that doesn't have a headphone jack you will still have to use an adaptor cable so you can plugin the mic into your phone.
Bad: This is not so much of a bad point but more so something that just doesn't make much sense to me and that is, the microphone is omnidirectional with a hinge. Because the mic is omnidirectional no matter which direction you angle the mic the pickup is going to be basically the same. There is no need for the hinge. The hinge would make much more sense if the microphone was unidirectional picking up audio from a narrow path in front of the microphone capsule.
All in all the Comica CVM-VS07 Omnidirectional microphone is a good option for people that want a small mic for vLogging or cleaner reference audio with their mirrorless and DSLR cameras. At a price of only $26.99 this is a mic that everyone can afford to own.
