Before getting into the review, let's get familiar with the pricing of the Acer Predator Helios 300 2019.
🔹 NRs. 190, 000 | INR.140,999.00 | $1,599.89

We have the Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 with the 9th gen Intel core i7 processor, RTX 2060 graphics, 16GB of single-channel RAM. However, there is also another variant that has GTX 1660Ti.

Let’s start off by talking about the design of the laptop first. The build of most of the parts of it is metal that has made it look and feel premium. There is an added touch of Blue accents on the lid and on the keyboard that makes this one look different from the bunch. The logo on the lid lights up in Blue that gives it a gaming vibe.

On the front, you don’t see a lot of bezels on the screen. On the top middle of the display, you get a 720p webcam that is just how you would expect it to be.

Below the screen, you get the keyboard, which is a full-sized one. It has an RGB backlight that glows in different colors which you can change from the command center. You get a dedicated command center button on the keyboard that makes accessing it easier. In the command center, you can customize the 4-zone RGB lighting and the lighting is as vivid as you would expect. The command center also acts as a gateway for system information about the CPU, GPU, controlling the fan speed and much more.

There is also a Turbo button on the top left of the keyboard with which you can overclock the GPU and up the fan speeds and also max out the CPU limits. However, this comes at the cost of very high noise from the fans. More on the keyboard, the key travel distance is 1.7mm.

The key spacing on it is pretty good and we liked the fact that it does not have small arrow keys. The gamers out there will understand this problem.
The sound quality from the speakers is decent but nothing to be excited about. However, it's impressive that at max volumes, the sound does not distort much.

The trackpad, like the keyboard, is good. Although it’s plastic, it works very well. It has Windows precision and tracking that makes it have better gestures and tracking.

Talking about the ports, on the left, you have the Kensington lock, a power connector, 1x RJ45 port, 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 and a headphone jack. Then on the right-hand side, you get a full-sized HDMI port, a mini display port, 1 USB 3.1 gen 2 port and a Type C USB 3.1 Gen 2 port which does not support Thunderbolt 3.

Now let's get to the display which is a 15.6-inch 144Hz FHD IPS panel. The display quality is good on this. It is colorful and vivid Even if you are into content creation, the color accuracy is satisfactory with 97% SRGB. Talking of brightness, it peaks at around 315 nits, which is not bright enough to be used outdoors or brightly lit environment.

We also noticed some backlight bleeding on it, but there were very few instances where you could actually notice it.
What we liked about the Helios 300 is the performance. As mentioned earlier, I have the version with 9th Gen Intel Core i7 9750H processor, 16GB single-channel RAM, and the RTX 2060 GPU. There is also another version that comes with GTX 1660 Ti.

Talking about games, we played all the games with Turbo mode on. I played Battlefield 5 and it gave me 95 FPS on average. Then I enabled Ray tracing and got around 70 fps. However, while playing games, the fans were at the loudest they can get. Then, I went ahead and played Apex Legends where I got around 120 fps. If you tune into the settings, you can get up to 150 fps too where you can make full use of the 144Hz panel.

In terms of storage, you get 2 slots for NVME drives where the first one is already occupied by the 256GB SSD. The unit we have come with 1TB HDD.
For battery, you get a rather small 58 Wh Li-Ion battery. Of you use it for normal tasks, you can get 5-5.5 hours of juice but when you play games, it drops down significantly to 1 hour.
