Most security engineers will ask just one question: “What is the value and benefit of doing a certain thing?” But the second question is “What is the risk or exposure?” So you can then decide if the value is worth the risk. Ninja trick number 2: Have a risk assessment every quarter. Ninja trick number 3: Instead of having a pile of graphs and charts, be able to make a presentation with only one slide, which has 4 columns: Top risks, likelihood of it happening, cost of the breech, and cost to fix it. If you have these three tools, you are one step closer to being a great CISO.
