GK Prema | Period Traditions in India | Menstruation | Reproductive Health

When GK Prema was 10 years old, her aunt was bitten by a snake, all because of an age-old tradition in which menstruating women are forced to live outside the village.
When she left the town for her higher education, she realised that she could change this tradition and save lives.
She came forward to do just that.
By speaking to the elders of her community, she slowly made sure that the practice is done away with.
After 8 years of her efforts, the community has now abandoned the practice. The women in the village are grateful for her efforts.
