The Devil Rays, also known as mobula rays, belong to the genus Mobula within the family Mobulidae. There are several species of Devil Rays, including Mobula mobular, Mobula birostris, and Mobula alfredi. Here's some information about each species:

Mobula mobular: Commonly known as the Atlantic Devil Ray or the Devil Fish, Mobula mobular is found in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It has a relatively small size compared to other Mobula species, with a wingspan of around 2.5 to 3 meters (8 to 10 feet). These rays are known for their acrobatic jumps out of the water.

Mobula birostris: Also called the Giant Devil Ray or Giant Manta Ray, Mobula birostris is the largest species in the Mobula genus. It can reach an impressive wingspan of up to 7 meters (23 feet), making it one of the largest rays in the ocean. Mobula birostris is found in tropical and temperate waters worldwide, including the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.

Mobula alfredi: Known as the Reef Manta Ray or Alfredi's Manta Ray, Mobula alfredi is closely related to the Giant Devil Ray. However, it is smaller in size, with a wingspan ranging from 3 to 5 meters (10 to 16 feet). These rays are commonly found in tropical and subtropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and they are often encountered near coral reefs.

All Devil Rays are known for their graceful swimming patterns, large pectoral fins, and cephalic lobes (extensions on the head) that they use to funnel plankton and small fish into their mouths while filter feeding. They are generally harmless to humans and are known for their docile nature, making them a popular attraction for divers and snorkelers in some areas.

underwatercam is a nature, diving and marinelife related video production and stock footage library. We expand our range of films constantly. Films about nature and relaxing in nature are taking recently more of our focus We don't have to save nature and the oceans, we simply have to save or take care of ourselves as we are nature. With every natural and wild habitat we destroy, we kill a part of us. By understanding this and by understanding the fact, that nature and the oceans and the planet are the base of our physical being, we understand destroying and harming the planet, is harming our body and soul and threatens our surviving as a species. We like to show more of natures beauty to create the feeling of aw, gratefulness and respect.
We hope we reach you with this message and hope you subscribe and share our work and intentions. Ocean greetings, Peter Schneider www.underwatercam.tv
