In Firozpur, villages along the international border, like Gati Rajoke, remain inaccessible by road following recent floods. A report from the ground highlights the plight of 15,000 to 16,000 residents across approximately 20 villages who are now dependent on boats for all movement. Villagers describe journeys of '2-3 hours' by paddle boat to transport essential supplies like milk and rations. The situation persists even after a visit from C.M. Bhagwatman, which led to the establishment of some relief measures. While the BSF and Punjab police are deployed, the primary demand from the affected population is for motorboats to ease their commute and ensure better access to medical aid and supplies. All road connectivity to the area's 11 panchayats has been severed by the floodwaters.
