TVS Phoenix is an Indian commuter that carries a 124.53cc air cooled engine, producing 10.8 BHP at 8000 rpm and 10.8 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. It comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox and weighs 114 kg with full fuel tank. The motorcycle offers first in class, all digital instrument console and that too with a tachometer. Phoenix has 12 liters of fuel tank and could travel 600 kilometers in a single fuel tank. The motorcycle rivals Honda CB Shine, Hero Glamour and Yamaha Saluto in the Indian market. It even comes with an option of front disc brake in the top variant.
The Passion xPro looks similar to the Hero Passion from most of the angles and it is powered by the same 110cc engine which powers the Honda Twister, it generates maximum power of 8.7 bhp at 7500 rpm. It features analogue-digital instrument cluster which looks very neat and stylish. The Passion xPro is available in eight shades making it one of the widest color options to be available on a commuter motorcycle in India.
Hero Glamour is a commuter motorcycle using a decent 124.7 cc, air cooled engine that produces 9 BHP at 7000 rpm and 10.35 Nm at 4000 rpm. It comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox and weigh quite high at 125 kg. It claims a top speed of 94 kmph while its useful 13.6 liter of fuel tank makes it an effective everyday commuter. It rivals Honda CB Shine and TVS Phoenix in its segment. It has been priced at INR 56,655 for the drum brake variant. The disc brake version is INR 2,000 expensive than the drum brake version.
The other update on the 2017 Honda CB Shine SP is the new HET tyre on the motorcycle. The new HET tyre has been developed and patented by Honda and is intended to improve the overall efficiency of the bike. The company says that the special tyre is built with a new compound that reduces energy loss while maintaining optimum grip. The HET tyre reduces rolling resistance by 15-20 per cent, which will help improve emissions and fuel efficiency. Honda has received the patent in three countries for the new tyres and has applied for in India.
