Indie-electronica artist Rodney Cromwell is set to drop his latest pumped-up single ‘Exercise Class’ on 14th June, ready for the summer. The track fuses dead-pan spoken-word lyrics, with a melodic chorus and Cromwell’s signature classic synth sound. The song draws influences from LCD Soundsystem, Metronomy and classic synthpop as well as to the iconic soundtracks of Jane Fonda workouts videos. It’s a song that belongs as much on the indie-disco dancefloor as a sweaty exercise studio.

On the inspiration behind the track Cromwell says, “I hate exercising, and I wanted to write something that celebrates that fact. Despite appearances, I’ve spent a lot of time over the last 20 years pounding the streets of South London as well as hanging around in cut-price gyms. So, I found myself writing a song that observes the less glamorous, sometimes creepy side, of workout culture."

Since the release of his debut album 'Age of Anxiety,' Cromwell has been featured by the likes of NME, Electronic Sound, Huffington Post, Paste, Shindig!, Louder Than War, Big Takeover, Magic RPM and the Bandcamp homepage with national radio play across the globe, not least with multiple spins on BBC 6 Music in the UK.

The Rodney Cromwell live set is a joyful mixed-media extravaganza, incorporating battered synths, video visuals and live instrumentation, interjected by Rodney’s 'offbeat wit'’ (NME). His debut festival appearance was described as 'like a spiritual experience’. Bands he has played with include A Flock of Seagulls, Pram, Death & Vanilla, M!R!M, Damo Suzuki, Steve Davis and Blancmange. He has recorded live sessions for Electronic Sound Magazine and RNE3 in Spain.
